Now let’s talk food - the kind that fills your kitchen with warmth and your evening with ease. Because if there’s one thing I want to nail at the end of this daily rollercoaster, it’s a meal that tastes amazing but doesn’t ask me to think too hard.
A warm, flaky Pouch Pie (hello, Monty Piethon Chicken & Mushroom Pie, my weekday hero) paired with Crispy Smashed Potatoes? That’s what I call a win. It’s simple, comforting, and the kind of dinner that feels like effort without actually requiring any.

These crispy smashed potatoes with garlic and rosemary are one of my favorite easy comfort food recipes. They are a side dish that looks fancy, tastes great, and fits well into a busy evening. You can literally throw them together with one hand while unloading the dishwasher with the other.
Crispy Smashed Potatoes with Garlic & Rosemary
Serves: 4 hungry humans or 2 parents who “forgot to eat lunch.”
You’ll Need:
- 1½ lbs small potatoes (baby Yukon golds or red potatoes work best)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp melted butter (optional but glorious)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp chopped fresh rosemary (or ½ tsp dried)
- Salt and pepper

How to Make It:
- Boil the potatoes in salted water until just fork-tender (about 15 minutes).
- Drain and cool slightly, then gently smash each potato flat on a sheet pan using a fork or the bottom of a glass.
- Drizzle with olive oil and melted butter. Sprinkle garlic, rosemary, salt, and pepper evenly.
- Roast at 425°F (220°C) for 25–30 minutes, until the edges are golden and crispy.
- Try not to eat them all straight from the pan (good luck).
Pair It With: Pouch Pies, Naturally
You know that feeling when dinner just comes together? This is it. A batch of golden smashed potatoes and a frozen Pouch Pie straight from the oven make for the ultimate easy freezer meal.
You will enjoy the Monty Python Chicken & Mushroom Pie. The Pielander Beef Steak & Gravy Pie is also a great choice. Don't forget the Herculeaves Spinach & Feta Pie. You can't go wrong with any of these options. Each savory pie is handcrafted, baked in a flaky crust, and filled with real ingredients! No shortcuts, no stress, just flavor.
The crispy edges of the potatoes pair beautifully with the rich, creamy filling of your favorite Pouch Pie. It’s the kind of dinner that feels restaurant-worthy but is still completely doable on a weeknight.
And that’s the magic of Pouch Pies! They make real comfort food dinners simple.
No complicated prep, no endless cleanup, just good food made easy.

Dinner, the Fall Way
Fall is all about slowing down, even if your schedule doesn’t. The air is cool. The leaves are golden. It’s a great time for warm meals. You can share them with family or friends, or enjoy them alone with your favorite show.
This fall-inspired dinner idea is everything you need to make weeknights feel special again. Warm, flaky pies, crispy potatoes, a glass of wine, and maybe a candle flickering in the background.
So tonight, skip the takeout, pull out a Pouch Pie, and make these Crispy Smashed Potatoes with Garlic and Rosemary.
Serve them hot, and call it what it is — a win.
